A Letter from the Editor
My Fellow Fashionistas,
Welcome Welcome Welcome!!
I am proud to present the official launch of the New York Design Shop. We have been working for months to provide the DIY Fashion world with a home, and here it is!
When I was a little girl walking around NYC, I used to think that one could wear anything in this city. An outfit could be completely and totally crazy, and you will still fit in and look super chic. Over the years I would watch people and observe their distinct and quite different styles. Eventually, I realized that it’s not that any outfit works in NYC; it’s that New York is about individuality when it comes to style. There are thousands of different kinds of people in New York, and this small island is a place where people can express themselves in millions of ways. When walking down the busy and crowded streets of Manhattan, you may see an 80s wacked out ballerina, a Nun in Louboutins, or just your everyday chic business women. The possibilities are endless, and it’s time to take a new approach to fashion.
Now that we have established my love for chic New York style, I would like to make sure all of our new friends know that while our world faces a difficult economic time, we would be honored to provide you all with this lovely e-home. Why spend a fortune on a Chanel look when you could create it yourself?? The designers have set the standard high this season, however we are ready to play. We love DIY Fashion here at NYDS and would rather take an old or new blank tee and totally alter it to our taste rather than splurge hundreds for a similar designer look. Lastly, I want to encourage all fashionistas, from New York, LA, Chicago, Paris, Milan, London or anywhere else in the world to share their designs with us!
Be yourself.
Represent yourself.
Create Couture.
